Linux sistem yönetimi, sanallaştırma, siber güvenlik ve bulut altyapıları.

Kimim Ben?

Canlı Web Sunucusunun Proxmox'a Taşınması (P2V)

  • Idempotent tekrar gönderim: her cihazın olaylarına sıra numarası verilir (node_id + seq benzersiz).

Who Am I?

Arda Murat Soybahçeci

Hi, I'm Arda Murat Soybahçeci, a cloud computing student working on Linux system administration, virtualization and cybersecurity. I learn by building real systems and fixing real failures: I run the production web server that hosts this site, and I build a small-business network end to end in my home lab.

I see cybersecurity as understanding how systems work, where they break, and how to prevent those failures. There is no strong security without solid systems knowledge.

Featured Projects

Migrating a Production Web Server to Proxmox (P2V)

August 2026

Converted a physical, Virtualmin-managed Ubuntu server that serves two domains (including this one) into a Proxmox VE virtual machine with no data loss.

What I did

  • Installed Proxmox on a separate NVMe drive, attached the untouched Ubuntu disk to the VM via disk passthrough, and fixed UEFI boot so the system came up as a VM.
  • The server's only uplink was a Wi-Fi card. Since Wi-Fi interfaces can't join a standard Linux bridge, I built an isolated virtual bridge and routed traffic to the VM with iptables NAT (MASQUERADE) and port forwarding (DNAT).

Problems I solved

  • SSH silently hitting the wrong machine: the forwarding rule matched only on the interface, so LAN SSH sessions to the Proxmox host were quietly redirected to the VM, which is why host-side changes seemed to have no effect. Adding a source-network filter separated host and VM access.
  • firewalld: rules existed but the interface wasn't bound to any zone, so external traffic was rejected. Bound it to the right zone.
  • Apache / TLS: VirtualHosts were pinned to the old physical IP, so port 443 answered with plain HTTP (ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR). Fixed the VirtualHosts and brought both sites back over HTTPS.
  • MariaDB: fixed the database service that failed to start because of missing SSL certificate files.

Result

The server is now a VM managed and backed up through Proxmox, other VMs run on the same hardware, and both sites are reachable over HTTPS.

Enterprise Network and Active Directory Lab on Proxmox

2026

A lab that simulates a small company network end to end: a managed physical switch, a Sophos XG firewall, a Windows Server 2022 domain controller, and network-based OS deployment.

Infrastructure

  • Two-port LACP bond between the Proxmox host and a 3Com 4500 switch, plus an isolated management bridge.
  • Sophos XG gateway: inter-VLAN routing, NAT, firewall rules and DHCP relay.
  • AD DS, DNS and DHCP on Windows Server 2022, with five VLAN scopes served to clients through the Sophos relay.
  • Secure remote access to the lab through a Tailscale subnet router.

Management and automation

  • OU structure and Group Policy; a GPO startup script enables WinRM on every client for password-less remote PowerShell over Kerberos.
  • WDS/PXE network installs: reference machine, sysprep, golden image capture with DISM, and deployment through WDS.
  • Traffic analysis with Wireshark: spotting a PPPoE-related MTU difference, identifying gateways and hosts, and verifying that Sophos rules actually take effect.

Problems I solved

  • NetworkManager grabbing a NIC and preventing the LACP bond from forming.
  • A ZFS pool failing to import at boot because a systemd unit referenced an old pool name.
  • Domain controller DNS pointing at IPv6 placeholders; the DHCP server not bound to its interface.
  • GPOs not applying because computers sat in the default container instead of an OU.
  • Image capture failing on an unstable network: captured to a locally attached disk instead, then moved the disk to the domain controller.

Next steps

Fully unattended installs with autounattend.xml, prestaged devices by MAC address, and time synchronization (NTP).

NÖBET — Access Control and Attendance for Schools In progress

2026

An access control and attendance system for Turkish educational institutions, built on ESP32-based readers, MQTT and PostgreSQL.

Design

  • The PostgreSQL schema, MQTT event schema and API contract are defined in a single system contract; development follows a 13-phase roadmap where every phase is approval-gated.
  • Immutable event table: records are never edited, giving a complete audit trail.
  • Idempotent replay: each device numbers its events (node_id + seq is unique), so after a connection drop the device resends and no duplicates are created.
  • Timestamps without an RTC: event time is derived from the device's uptime delta, so no extra clock hardware is needed.
  • UI enrollment flow for unknown cards, and multi-institution support via tenant_id.
  • RFID in the prototype, with an abstraction layer for biometric readers.
ESP32MQTTPostgreSQLRFIDAPI design

Other Work

  • AWS EC2 and Lightsail — setting up, comparing and managing AWS's two VPS services.
  • ESXi Home Lab — VMware ESXi on an old laptop; Ubuntu and Windows servers, MariaDB, secure remote access with Tailscale and Cloudflare Tunnel.
  • Ubuntu SSH Hardening — key-only login, UFW, and the ssh.socket behavior on newer Ubuntu releases.
  • KlipperGram — a secure Telegram control service for Klipper/Moonraker 3D printers, written in Python.
  • RHEL study notes — a book/notes I compiled on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
